Team Tuesday: EtsyNJ Team Blog Hop

Every week, the Etsy NJ Team sponsors a Blog Hop. It's a wonderful way of showcasing all the wonderful talent comes from the Garden State of NJ!

This week, I chose to talk about my pal, Doreen, of Sea Horse Designs. I met Doreen at the Handmade Faire ~ organized by two great Etsy NJ Women Abbie & Pola ~ the show was a wonderful mixture of talent and we all met those members with whom we chat via email, daily.

I know that this week, Easter & Passover is upon us; however, the crafter in me is looking ahead towards Mother's Day. Crazy, you say?! I think it's always a great time to think of those special women in our lives that have inspired us and loved us ~ whether they are our Moms, Aunts, Sisters, Grandmothers, or even Friends/Mentors.

So I chose Sea Horse Designs, because of all the wonderful items she creates ~
Elegant Shawl Pin with a gorgeous focal handmade lampwork bead accented with Tanzanite and Topaz Swarovski Crystals & gold beads.

One of my favorite designs, Petals English Garden Lariat Lightweight Scarf (pictured above).
Just a lovely lightweight accent to any outfit... click on the link and see all the variety of ways to style your new Lariat.
Love it!

And what a wonderful Spring Hat~ Purple Crocheted Brimmed Cloched Hat with Flower (above). This hat is so versatile, soft and warm. I used a gorgeous deep purple colored acrylic yarn. The yarn is very soft to the touch and not rough at all. You can wear the brim up, down, or up on one side. Very chic!

So, stop by and see ALL the lovely items at Sea Horse Designs~

Also, follow along with our Team Hop and see all the other great artists!

Everything's Sweeter in Pink

Here's my Newest baby, Molly McBunny!
She was a bit shy for these first photos, but she did warm up much later... I don't think she's use to being in the limelight.

After taking a trip to the grocery store, I stopped along the way at a lovely little fabric shoppe called, The Little Shoppe. There you can find almost any fabric your heart desires.
Once I saw these lovely polka dots, there was no stopping me from going fabric happy!
As Molly was being all shined up, it just seemed fated that she would get this wonderfully festive dress!

Molly is sporting the newest fashion in Bunnywear ~ Christian Duckior!
I think she is the first at her farm with this wonderful Ducky Tote!
Here's a close up (picture below) of this fabulous designer's creation... such detail!
It's no wonder, Molly is the talk of her warren!

After all the "official" photos were taken, Molly was begging me to take just one more picture, but this time holding her favorite Fabunny Egg! She's all about the fashion and bling, this little bunny; but I know down deep she's just a country girl at heart.
Stop by and visit Molly and all her other gal pals at the shoppe!

Customarily Yours

A few weeks ago, I received a request to customize a doll for a special 1st birthday celebration. Little Sadie Jane is the sunshine in her mother’s eyes and I was blessed to be able to be included in this special little girl’s 1st Birthday.

How special it is to be apart of someone’s life. I have been amazed, going into someone’s home (a friend’s friend whom I did not know) and found my ornaments hanging on their Christmas tree ~ that was an incredible surprise and one that I’ve never forgotten. So to have a request like this, just makes me feel so lucky.

Here’s Little Red in love stationery set created by Happy Papers Sadie’s mom picked for the party.
Isn’t it just lovely... she has so many of the sweetest downloads for your own graphics to use to celebrate that special event.

During the making of Little Sadie, I thought, after seeing the invitations that I should include some of the newest items that I’ve been experimenting with ~ lovely wooden mushrooms in pastel colors. So not only with Sadie have a special dolly but also some really cute mushrooms to remember me by!!

And here’s Little Sadie (pictured above)! In searching for material for this cutie, I found some big polka dotted red material but when my friend, Nancy, sent me some material that she had ~ there were several pieces for really cool fabrics, there it was, this wonderfully petite red polka dot material that was perfect for Little Sadie!!

So many thanks to my wonder pal, Nancy ~
And my best wishes to the lovely little girl who’s cute face will be covered in Birthday frosting in another few weeks!

If you know anyone who would also like a doll, just let me know... email me at fromnancysheart@yahoo.com or stop by the shoppe to pick the dolly for your celebration.

I like to introduce to you a very Caring Lady who I would like to say is in the "wrappin' " business, Kim White of Kim White Creations. So like your liquor, you must also MARK your ice cream carton~he won't see it under this MARVELOUS wrap. And BTW, it also makes the freezer just a bit more cozy!

Each week, those of us who blog, pick a fellow member of our team to showcase, then you can follow the links to read about other extraordinary team members.
I forgot all about it last week, so I'm trying to get a jump on it early and write about a nifty gal livin' in NJ and her shoppe,

When you first enter the shoppe of Pancakeandlulu, you are just hit with these wonderful array of colors and textures.

WONDERLAND handspun and handpainted gypsy yarn low impact dyes (see photo, left) is just one of the wonderful yarns I'm speaking about... just look at the combination of colors bursting out.

Only a beginner weaver myself, I just sit looking lovingly at yarns, thinking, "what can I make" ~ It's the first instinct one gets,
you see fabulous materials and think, "I MUST make
something out of this~what, I don't know, but something!"

I'm now finding myself in a Colorful Trance ~

a beautiful handpainted bulky wool yarn. Gorgeous mustard yellow!
It reminds me of the best glass of lemonade, ever!

And I also must say that since her 2006 Etsy Shoppe opening, this terrific entrep
reneur has been Spotlighted in
several gift guides & Also as Etsy's Feature Shoppe:
And just recently, seen on the FRONT PAGE of Etsy ~

"I think of my yarns as freestyle fiber "collage", each skein is a fun and unique work of art in itself. Use them for anything you desire", say's owner of Pancakeandlulu.

But wait, now she's opened another shoppe at Etsy ~ and I'm so certain she will get a sensation response to her newest venture, too!

flapjackandpippin, opened in October of 2009 and it has a marvelous collection of felted juggling balls.

Etsy Twitter Team: Shop of the Week

Our newest Etsy Twitter Team's Shop of the Week is Mikiye Creations and I can not come up with the words to express adequately the loveliness of these works of art that Mikiye is known to create.

Here's how she describes her work: "Mikiye Creations is a luscious and romantic blend of semi-precious stones, metals, freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals, Austrian crystal, Rhinestones, Vintage items, silks and feathers. Unique and often Heirloom one of a kind designs, vibrant color, rich texture, attention to detail and dazzling shine have become my signature. Every piece is delicately handcrafted by my hands for you to enjoy."

First, I must say, what wonderful photos of her work these are... I would love this not only as an accessory to my wonderful outfit; but also as a postcard that I would send out prior to the event to promote the wonderful accessory I'm wearing! Seriously, I'm not kidding!
Bridal Hair Flower 2 Piece Set Pink Purity (above) is just one of the lusciousness of Mikiye!

Not only are all Mikiye's items wonderful for the upcoming BRIDAL Season; but PROM is coming all too soon and we all know how our daughters LOVE the BLING; well, heck, how we all LOVE the BLING.
(Below) Bridal Jewelry Saya Three Strand White Pearl Brooch Necklace, just a striking piece which is PERFECT if you have a simple dress and NEED that WOW accessory!

"I grew up in a family full of artistic women and was bit by the art bug early in life. I have always loved keeping myself involved with anything that I can express my talents in. I spent 15+ years working as a Professional celebrity Makeup artist in Los Angeles and about 7 years ago began my love affair with making flowers. It wasn't long until my clients and friends were asking me to make them flowers and accessories so it was a natural move to start my own business. I am completely self taught so it's great fun for me to see how far I have come and how much my skills and techniques have improved!"

This and so much more is featured on Etsy Twitter Team's Blog of Mikiye Creations; where you can learn so much more about this creative shoppe owner. Also, check out previous articles on other team members, as well. You'll find we are a diverse group of artists who just love both tweeting and creating.

I must admit, this Bridal Hair Flower Accessory Ethereal Bliss (above) has always been my very favorite! I adore the Jem in the middle of these lovely hand cut Silk Chiffon, Silk Gauze and Organza petals. Amazingly bold and delicate all at the same time. :D

Pattern Your Life into Greatness

Recently, my pal, Juliane, of Froken Skicklig, posted a giveaway for a free pattern to celebrate the much anticipated line of Doll Patterns she is creating.
My that gal is very, very busy and I am so very proud of her!

These are just a few items that my pal creates ~ just amazing to me!

Well, this got me thinking.
When I was young~ oh, so many years ago~ my Aunt, who was the family seamstress taught me how to sew; or should I say, tried to teach me?!
I remember those summer days, spending time over her house, sitting by the sewing machine making so many things: a dolman sleeved top - in a sage green; a calico skirt~ yes, ladies, they started with our generation; and the ultimate summer project ~ a WHITE LINED BLAZER. Oh baby, that thing took the whole summer, shoulder pads and ALL.
(Check out the price on that pattern, too!! :D)

I think I still have these projects somewhere; and I know that linen blazer is yellowing now in a box at my mother's house; but it's the times together that I'll remember. I learned how to sew straight seams; because, she made me sit with lined paper at an unthreaded machine for a day and sew on the blue lines, as she told me stories of her days in school. I learned that my Aunt was a fun girl and how I would have loved to travel in a time machine and become friends with her.
My point... help a child create. You'll not only be sharing your talent but also that precious time that they will always remember; even if it's just gluing curly macaroni on a papier mache box!

Team Tuesday: EtsyNJ Team

Last Tuesday, Jennifer of JenniferCrochets.etsy.com, was so wonderful to featured my Etsy Shoppe and so I wanted to return her kindness.

Jennifer just recently opened her Etsy Shoppe in December of 2009 and by
the looks of it ~ she's got some really terrific items.

Set of Crochet Swiffer Covers

Here's a Set of Crochet Swiffer Covers (above); and they are the best for our Eco Friendly world of today. These cuties are made to fit snuggly and are great for wet cleaning or dusting ~ wow, so versatile!

Jennifer learned to crochet from her grandmother ~ loving that girl ~ and also is a Mom of 2. Here's something even more about our lovely lady on the move... she also has a blog "Mommys Online Garage Sale" where a group of 3400 or more women around the USA sell all sorts of items.

This set includes 3 dish clothes and 1 swiffer cloth~I think this is a lovely Wishing Well Gift for a new Bride to Be! I never really know what to bring for that darn well! When I got married, I received 5 veggie peelers! For me that's 5 too many!! :D

Crochet Kitchen Set

That's just a bit on our pal Jennifer of JenniferCrochets. Please stop by her Etsy shoppe and say, "hi!" And don't forget her terrific blog: http://www.mommysonlinegaragesale.com
